The E311 or the coast road
Two routes lead to Ajman, and your address decides which one is faster.
The E311 (Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road) runs inland past Sharjah and suits Al Jurf, Emirates City, Al Rawda and Al Tallah. It’s usually the quicker choice in the evening rush.
The coast road runs through Sharjah on Al Ittihad Road and suits Ajman Corniche, Al Nuaimiya and Al Rashidiya. It’s shorter, but it slows as Sharjah traffic builds.
Your driver picks the road on the day, and the fare stays the same.

Why the northbound evening is its own problem
Going home to Ajman is not the morning run reversed. In the morning the car leaves a quiet emirate and meets traffic as it arrives; in the evening it leaves the busiest part of Dubai at the hour everyone else does and then has Sharjah to cross before Ajman begins.
Two emirate boundaries in one journey, and the middle one is where the time goes. Riders who have only ever driven it tend to blame the distance. Forty kilometres is not the problem. The twenty of those that sit inside Sharjah between 18:00 and 19:30 are.
A seat changes what that hour is worth. The driver takes the inland road or the coastal one depending on what the evening is doing, and you spend the time on a phone rather than on a clutch.
AED 90 a seat, AED 190 for the whole car, tolls and fuel included, and none of it moves with how long the boundary holds you.

- A clean accident record Checked rather than assumed.
- The Sharjah judgement call The inland highway skirts Sharjah city and the coastal road goes through it, and the right answer changes by the half hour.
- The Ajman end Which Corniche towers have a usable entrance, and which Al Jurf blocks are quicker from the highway side.
