The Route

How the Ras Al Khaimah to Dubai car lift works

The road is clear for the first eighty kilometres and busy for the last thirty. That shape is why departures on this route start earlier than on any other corridor we run: the riders are not trying to beat the road out of Ras Al Khaimah, they are trying to be past Dubai's northern edge before it fills.

Fares are AED 90 shared and AED 190 private, both including fuel and every toll, with a monthly commuter seat at AED 3,500. Two groups fill this run: weekday staff who moved north for rent, and weekend travellers coming back on a Sunday morning.

What follows: the departures, what the fare covers, where we collect across Ras Al Khaimah, where the car finishes in Dubai, the road, and whether a monthly seat pays on a two hour round trip. Six questions at the foot.

AED 90

All in, per seat

What a seat south costs

One figure fixed before travel, on a journey long enough that a meter would frighten anybody.
  • Fuel for the full 115 km
  • Salik gates on the Dubai side
  • Collection at your building gate
  • Waiting at the gate while you come down
  • A held seat on the monthly plan
  • Free cancellation up to 12 hours ahead
Per kilometre this is one of the cheapest journeys we sell, which is what makes the commute possible at all.

Where we collect in Ras Al Khaimah

Collection covers the city and the developments around it, worked into the run before the car turns south.

Al Nakheel

Central and the busiest pickup area on the route.

Al Mairid

Residential and collected early in the loop.

Al Dhait

Steady weekday demand from staff commuting into Dubai.

Khuzam

Close to the southbound road and one of the last collections.

Al Hamra

Further out towards the coast, and the pickup that needs the earliest start.
Drops cover Deira, Business Bay, DIFC, Al Quoz and Dubai Marina, in the order the road reaches them.

Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road carries the whole of this corridor, and it behaves as two different roads on one journey.

North of Dubai it is open and fast. The car holds a steady speed for most of the trip, and this is the part that makes a 115 km commute a reasonable thing to do twice a day.

From the Dubai edge onwards it is a city road with city traffic on it, and the arrival time is set here. The earlier windows exist entirely to get through this stretch before it fills.

The route runs inland of Umm Al Quwain, Ajman and Sharjah rather than through them, so the queues that define those corridors do not appear on this one. That is the single biggest reason it keeps to its timings.

Monthly seat or pay per trip

Two and a half hours of travelling a day is a serious commitment, and the people who make it almost all take the monthly seat.
Best value

Monthly seat

AED 3,500 total. Ten legs a week, the same driver, a held seat, and two hours a day you can sleep or work through instead of drive.

Per trip

AED 90 each. For the weekend traveller and anyone testing the route before committing to it.
In short
Against driving yourself, the fuel and the wear on a 230 km day are the comparison worth making rather than the fare alone.
