A Dubai to Ras Al Khaimah car lift runs 115 km north on the E311, taking 75 to 100 minutes door to door. It is the most straightforward drive on our network: one motorway, few interchanges, and traffic that thins after Umm Al Quwain.

How the Dubai to Ras Al Khaimah car lift works

A car lift from Dubai to Ras Al Khaimah is a booked seat running 115 km north on the E311, taking 75 to 100 minutes. The corridor carries two entirely separate kinds of traveller, and the service is arranged around both.

Weekdays belong to commuters. Staff at RAK Ceramics, Julphar and the free zone travel south in the morning and north in the evening, on a monthly seat at AED 3,500 rather than paying by the trip. For them the clock is the whole point.

Weekends belong to the mountain. Jebel Jais draws Dubai traffic all winter, and those bookings are private cars carrying four people, a cool box and walking boots. For them the boot decides everything. Booking a place costs AED 90 and taking the car outright costs AED 190, with fuel and gates inside both.

Below: the northbound drive in four stages, what the fare covers, the drop points across the emirate from Al Nakheel to Al Marjan, what the Jebel Jais road asks of a vehicle, and how weekday commuting differs from a weekend trip. Nine questions close the page, covering timings, coverage and the mountain.

What you pay northbound

Payment on the northbound run is flat and known before you travel, and the list below is what that single figure already covers.
  • Fuel for the corridor Charged at nothing extra whether the road is clear or slow.
  • Toll gates leaving Dubai Paid on your behalf as the car heads north.
  • A held place Monthly riders keep one seat, and one driver wherever the rota permits it.
  • Weekend luggage Walking kit, cool boxes and overnight bags, which is the standard load here on a Friday.
  • Notice period Half a day of warning cancels a booking at no cost.
Which part of the emirate you are heading for decides the last leg of the drive.

Drop points across Ras Al Khaimah

Drop points cover the emirate from the resort strip through to the industrial areas, and they sit far enough apart that naming yours precisely saves everyone time.

Al Nakheel and Al Nadiyah

The city centre, and between them the busiest weekday finish anywhere on this corridor.

Al Hamra and Al Marjan Island

The resort and marina developments, which the road reaches before it gets anywhere near the city centre.

Mina Al Arab

Residential, and now more a commuter address than a holiday one.

The RAK free zone and Al Ghail

Industrial destinations, scheduled around factory hours instead of office ones.

Khuzam and Digdaga

Inland districts away from the coast road, served on the same departure without an added charge.
The one destination that needs its own arrangement is the mountain above them.
What the Jebel Jais road asks of a car

What the Jebel Jais road asks of a car

Jebel Jais is a serious mountain road and it is not part of the scheduled run. The climb from the plain to the viewing decks gains well over a kilometre in height on continuous gradients, and it asks more of a vehicle in forty minutes than the motorway does in two hours. So mountain trips go out as private cars, with a vehicle matched to the climb rather than whichever is next in the rank. Brakes and cooling matter more on the way down than power does on the way up, which is not something every saloon handles well. Winter weekends are the busy season, and the temperature at the top sits well below whatever the coast is doing. Riders who dress for a Dubai afternoon regret it almost as soon as they open the door, which is worth knowing before you pack for the day. Whether you are going up the mountain or into the city changes how the booking should be made.

Weekday commuting against weekend trips

Commuters and weekend travellers use this corridor so differently that they barely share a departure, let alone a reason for booking one.
Best value

Weekday commuter

A monthly seat, a fixed window, and the same place held right through the working week. What matters to them is arriving at the same time every morning, not the cheapest possible fare.

Weekend group

A private car booked around the day itself, usually four people with kit, coming back long after the scheduled runs have finished.

Occasional traveller

A single seat on a scheduled departure. Worth booking a day or two ahead through winter, when mountain traffic fills the northbound road.
In short
Riders on a fixed roster settle into the first of those quickly. The other northern corridors work the same way.

About 100 minutes across 115 km. Only the first stage is slow. Once the car is past the Sharjah boundary the highway runs freely, which is why an early departure protects the arrival time so effectively.
