How the Sharjah to Abu Dhabi car lift works

A car lift from Sharjah to Abu Dhabi is the longest scheduled run on our network: 165 km across three emirates, taking roughly two and a half hours door to door. Nobody makes this crossing casually. The riders on it are doing it because the job is in one emirate and the flat is in another.

That length changes what the service has to get right. A ten minute delay on a quick crossing is an inconvenience. On a run beginning at 05:30 it decides whether you arrive before your shift or explain why you did not.

Fares are AED 110 for a shared seat and AED 230 for a private car, with monthly commuters at AED 4,200. Fuel is included, and so are the toll gates at both ends: Salik crossing Dubai, Darb entering Abu Dhabi. On a route this long that inclusion is most of the value.

What follows is the shape of the 05:30 departure leg by leg, how the fare works on the longest run we operate, the districts covered at both ends, the road itself through Dubai and out to the capital, and how a monthly seat compares with driving your own car. Nine questions finish the page.

Pricing on the longest commuter run

Pricing ignores distance here, which surprises people. A seat on this crossing costs what a seat on a thirty minute hop costs, because the price reflects the place held and the schedule kept, not the odometer.

For a daily commuter the monthly package is the figure that matters. Twenty-two return trips cover about 7,000 km of driving you no longer do yourself, along with the wear, fuel and tolls attached to it. The flat rate holds whether the road is clear or the E11 is closed at Ghantoot.

Single trips suit anyone crossing once or twice a month for a meeting or a family visit. The fare holds either way, which keeps the arithmetic simple: multiply by the number of crossings you make.

Where we can collect and where we can finish decides whether the arithmetic applies to you at all.

Coverage at both ends

Coverage runs across two emirates, and a corridor this long only works when both ends are close to the road.

Al Nahda and Al Majaz in Sharjah

The earliest collections and the fullest cars, both a short hop from Al Ittihad Road.

Al Taawun, Al Khan and Al Qasimia

Coastal Sharjah, gathered on the way out of the emirate.

Muwailih and University City

Collected via the E311, which suits riders heading for Mussafah rather than the island.

Khalifa City and Mussafah in Abu Dhabi

The two heaviest drop zones, reached before the capital fills up.

Corniche, Al Bateen and Al Reem

Island addresses, last on the run and nearest the government offices.
The road between those two ends is what sets the timings.
The route through two emirates

The route through two emirates

Routing runs Al Ittihad Road out of Sharjah, then Sheikh Zayed Road the length of Dubai, then the E11 to the capital. Three roads, two toll systems, one continuous drive.

Timing is decided in Dubai. Clear Sheikh Zayed Road before 06:30 and the rest is straightforward: the E11 south of Jebel Ali rarely holds anyone up. Leave late enough to meet the Dubai peak and forty minutes disappear before you have even reached Ghantoot.

The E311 is the alternative for Mussafah-bound riders, skipping the coast entirely. It reads longer on a map and runs shorter in practice for anyone not heading to the island.

Weather matters more on this corridor than on the short hops. Fog between Ghantoot and Shahama closes lanes in winter mornings, and when it does the driver leaves earlier rather than driving faster. Riders are told the night before, not at the gate.

Whether that drive is worth handing over depends on what doing it yourself costs.

Driving yourself looks cheaper until the whole daily cost is written down.

Fuel and tolls

Two toll systems crossed twice daily, plus fuel for a distance most people underestimate by half.

Wear on the car

Highway distance on that scale brings a service every six weeks rather than twice a year.

The hours at the wheel

The part no spreadsheet captures, and the reason most riders switch after one summer of it.

Insurance and parking

Both priced for a vehicle that lives on the motorway rather than in a bay outside your building.
In short
Riders who work out that arithmetic tend to look at the shorter corridors we run for the days they do not need this one.
